Mrs. G - A Passionate Educator
I’ve always believed that education is the key to unlocking a person’s full potential. Education, in my opinion encompasses all aspects of an individual's ability to obtain, sustain and apply whatever information is being presented. This does not only apply to classroom subjects and textbook information. This belief has shaped my journey as an educator for over 12 years. As a passionate teacher, I have had the privilege of fostering the skills and character of many young minds, encouraging curiosity, and witnessing the transformative power of learning in action.

My journey began when I realized that teaching wasn’t just a profession—it was my calling. From an early age, I found joy in helping others understand and navigate the complexities of the world around them. Whether it was explaining concepts to classmates or leading study groups, I always felt a deep sense of fulfillment in facilitating others’ learning.

After earning my Bachelor of Science, I began my career as a teacher in Staten Island, NY. The first few years were both challenging and rewarding as I honed my skills and developed my own unique approach to teaching. Through trial and error, I discovered that building strong relationships with students was just as important as delivering lesson plans. By understanding their individual needs and interests, I could create a classroom environment where learning was not only effective but also exciting and engaging.

Over the years, I have taught Living Environment and Middle School Science along with ELA and Social Studies (with as many as 28 students in one class and other classes with 3 students) in addition to one-on-one tutoring sessions, each with their own strengths, challenges, and dreams. This diversity has been one of the greatest aspects of my career as it has taught me the importance of adaptability. Whether I was working with students who needed additional support or those who were ready for advanced challenges, I tailored my approach to meet their needs and pushed them to exceed their expectations.

A highlight of my career has been consistently achieving a 95% pass rate on the New York Living Environment Regents Exam. This accomplishment is not just a reflection of my students' hard work, but of the methods I’ve developed over the years to ensure they truly understand the material, not just memorize it. I focus on creating an interactive, hands-on learning environment, using real-world examples and inquiry-based learning to make complex biological concepts accessible and engaging. This approach has not only prepared my students to pass the exam but has also sparked a lasting interest in science.

In the end, being an educator is more than just teaching—it’s about making a difference. I am grateful for the privilege of shaping young minds and helping them discover their potential. The impact of a good teacher lasts a lifetime, and I am honored to play a part in that journey.
